Born
in Vienna, in the
70ties, fully influenced by the crazy wallpaper patterns of that time –
you remember? In the age of about 12 the decision was clear to have a band, sadly before starting, an music instrument had to be learned. For obvious reasons the guitar became the most favourite instrument. In the end no one of the guys, which were interested in building a group, joined. A new attempt, now equipped with an electric guitar, was done 4 years later, starting with colleagues from school. Again it did not work like planned. Meanwhile a practice room in a churches basement was organized. Together with Gerald, brother and sound engineer, a periodical fun-session started. The use of upcoming drum-computers solved the problem of being just two. |

This
was also the time for Alex to play the bass-guitar. After a year or so, Mundl joined and took over playing the bass. A drum-set was organized. Mostly Gerald played drums, Mundl the bass, and Alex the guitar who could also get some experiences on the drum-set. A almost weekly meeting and self written rock-songs where introduced. Sometimes guests came to join for a session ore two. The name of this three-man-group changed often, which doesn’t mean anything; however they called them selfes, “Kraftblume”, “Die Gruppe Atmet”, or finaly “Stilling”, they never performed for an audience. Around 1995, living in a cold garden house, experiments with electronic-music using the softwaretool “SAWPLUS” and a lot of red-wine for warming up, results in a home-made cd “Fratres / LX74 Out of Order” no one was interested in. |

With
the death of the churches priest in 2002, the band was kicked out
of the basement, -the project died also. His first contact with "Rancheros", one stile of TEX-MEX music, he had at vacations at the canarie islands. Some visits at Austin / Texas results in a deep love to this folk music. |

Until
the kick-off of
the
TEX-MEX project
together with "Herberto",
Alex
just played occasionally together with others (eg. bluegrass-session).
For the TEX-MEX project two new instruments came into use: a Cuatro Puertorriqueño (have a look at www.cuatro-pr.org), a 10 Stringed Guitar-Mandoline mixture from Latin America, and the Hohner Button Accordion "Compadre". Once ore twice times a year the former “Stilling” meets for making music. See other projects at alejo.at |
